Today’s Weather [WATCH]: Rain showers across many provinces, clear in the west – 8 September
Rain showers and slight rain sweep across much of South Africa today, while the Western Cape stays clear and warm, with veld fire conditions warned for affected areas.
Wet and unsettled conditions dominate much of the country today, with rain showers moving across Gauteng, Limpopo and Mpumalanga, while Bloemfontein, Mahikeng and Kimberley can expect slight rain to keep things cool and grey. In contrast, Cape Town basks in clear skies with a pleasant high of 30°C, and Durban stays mostly clear along the coast, with Gqeberha turning partly cloudy under milder temperatures.
Despite the rain in places, a warning for extreme veld fire conditions remains in effect, so residents in drier, warmer regions are urged to stay cautious and avoid any activities that could spark a blaze.

Veld Fire Conditions (Warning Level 10), valid until 23:59 on 8 September. Areas: Vredendal.
Conditions are such that the FDI index is above 75. Under these conditions fires may develop and spread rapidly resulting in damage to property and possible loss of human and/or animal life.
All personnel and equipment should be removed from the field. Fire teams, labour and equipment are to be placed on full stand-by. At first sign of smoke, every possible measure should be taken in order to bring the fire under control in the shortest possible time. All available aircraft are to be called for without delay.
