Today’s Weather [WATCH]: Mostly clear with fog and coastal cloud – 10 September
South Africa sees mostly clear skies today with cool mornings warming into the 20s, though the Western Cape stays cloudy, the Eastern Cape sees slight rain, and Mpumalanga starts foggy.
South Africa wakes up to a largely settled and pleasant Thursday, with mostly clear skies stretching across much of the interior from Johannesburg and Bloemfontein to Polokwane, Mahikeng and Kimberley, where afternoon highs climb into the mid-20s. The coast tells a slightly different story, with Cape Town under cloud and reaching a cooler 21°C, Gqeberha seeing some slight rain, and Mbombela starting the morning wrapped in fog before conditions ease. Durban enjoys warm, mostly clear weather peaking at 26°C, and with no weather warnings currently in place from the South African Weather Service, it’s a calm day countrywide.

Imagine waking up expecting an ordinary September spring day… only to find that snow was falling across large parts of South Africa's interior. ❄️
Cars disappeared beneath the snow. Roads turned white. Flights were cancelled. Power supplies were disrupted. Children ran outside to build snowmen and have snowball fights.
And in some places, the snow reached 15 cm or more…
