“Anti-discrimination” course to be given to government workers
Public Service and Administration Minister Ayanda Dlodlo has encouraged all public servants in both national and provincial government departments to enrol in the newly-established anti-discrimination online course.
“The online course was developed for public servants with the purpose of promoting an end to discrimination in the public service among public servants, as well as discrimination meted out by public servants to the public”, Dlodlo said.
The course will help public servants to “critically reflect on their own beliefs, attitudes, thought patterns, and behaviour”, to identify and apply strategies, to assess departmental policies and practices, and more.
Newly updated Covid regulations proposed for South Africa
As South Africa prepares to enter the next phase of the pandemic, the government and Department of Health will be considering several non-pharmaceutical measures to be implemented.
The country’s state of disaster is currently set to expire on 15 March 2022. This means that South Africa has been under regulations for 24 months as it was first declared in March 2020.
And if all goes to plan, this would have been the last extension of the state of disaster. Ramaphosa has previously stated that since the government will introduce more permanent long-term regulations, it might not be necessary to extend the state of disaster again.
