Turmoil erupted within ActionSA as the party announced on Sunday night that it was dissolving its provincial executive committee (PEC) in KwaZulu-Natal.

It comes after Belinda Ntshingila, Action SA’s interim eThekwini chairperson resigned from the party, claiming that the party is no different from the African National Congress (ANC).

The party on Tuesday said it has become clear that a group of individuals have been allowed to infiltrate its provincial executive committee (PEC) in KwaZulu-Natal with the intention of creating instability within the party.

In a statement issued by national ActionSA chair Michael Beaumont, it had become clear to the party that a group of individuals have been allowed to infiltrate the PEC. He said the motive of these individuals was to create instability within the party.

“It is apparent that the actions of these individuals are motivated by political forces outside of ActionSA and would manifest in a series of public resignations citing false pretence for the purpose of damaging the image of the party,” he said.

“ActionSA’s constitution requires decisive action to be taken under such circumstances to ensure that the vast majority of members, who are committed to ActionSA’s work to fix South Africa, are not subjected to the conduct of those who operate within ulterior motives,” said ActionSA.

The party added that the members that resigned are “not victims but rather traitors to the people of KZN who voted for ActionSA.

The Daily News reported yesterday that eThekwini regional chairperson of ActionSA, Busisiwe Ntshingila, and uThukela regional chairperson Mdumiseni Mlangeni have resigned with immediate effect from ActionSA.
