As previously reported, The Crown will focus a lot more on Princess Diana. As well as the events that took place before her tragic passing. However, her car accident will not be a part of the current season as it is a sensitive matter.
In the current season, there are some key moments in the series that some may remember and be familiar with. However, it is important to note that the series is not a docuseries. As some of the events are also fictionalized.
To pick apart the real from fiction, some of the most controversial events from the 90s will be unpacked below.
Thus far, many will know that Princess Diana participated in a tell-all interview. In which the royal famously said that her marriage consisted of three people.
Prince Charles would then release a documentary with BBC1 and admit that he had an affair during his marriage with Princess Diana. The other woman being the now Queen Consort Camilla.
The 90s most shocking events
Each episode currently explores the different events that defined the monarchy for what it is today. Which includes the marriage of Prince Harry and actress Meghan Markle.
Some of the other things unpacked is a fictional scene in which Queen Elizabeth sits Prince Charles and Princess Diana down to discuss the demise of the pair’s marriage. The conclusion drawn is that the royals should ultimately end their marriage to one another.
In the documentary of Prince Charles called Charles: The private man the public role, the royal shares that his marriage to Princess Diana was irreparable at a certain point which had led to the royal rekindling his friendship with Camilla.
Back then, the New York Times published an intimate conversation between Prince Charles and Camilla in which the royal admits to wanting to be reincarnated into her tampon.
The publication also included a link that allowed readers to listen to the entire phone call themselves.
Right now, The Crown season 5 also delves into the relationship between Princess Diana and Mohammed Al-Fayed as well as the horrific fire at Windsor Castle.
