KwaZulu-Natal will experience Thunderstorms from 2 pm on Monday afternoon. The South African Weather Service warned that strong winds and hail are also on the horizon.
From 2 pm this afternoon, the weather is expected to take a turn in KwaZulu-natal following the heatwave experienced last week.
Weather in KwaZulu-Natal
The current weather warning will be in place till 11 pm on Monday night. During the course of the day, strong winds, heavy downpours, and hail will possibly hit the western parts of the region.
In the instances of being in a low-lying area, some may be expected to evacuate these areas to avoid the dangers of flooding. It is important to be increasingly aware of your surroundings during these times.
Some of the impacts include:
- Localized flooding of settlements and bridges
- Damage to infrastructure
- Difficult driving conditions
- Localized damage due to hail
The thunderstorm warning comes just weeks after KwaZulu-Natal was placed on an Orange Level 9 warning for possible flooding.
While the likelihood of thunderstorms is relatively high, the impacts in KwaZulu-Natal are expected to be minor. However, vigilance is encouraged.

As for the weather this Tuesday, KwaZulu-Natal will experience thunderstorms all around the province from Monday right into Tuesday. It is unclear how long this will last but it is the assumption that it will last the entire day.

The South African Weather Service has not sent out a warning for thunderstorms on Tuesday. Therefore, impacts can be expected to be minor again. However, strong winds will persist throughout the day on Tuesday.
