The hype around Jessica Chastain’s latest movie The Eyes of Tammy Faye hasn’t even blown over and fans are already getting excited about her next role. Chastain will be playing the role of “Tammy Wynette” in a limited series called George & Tammy.
The series will be directed by John Hillcoat is will be based on “the tempestuous marriage of C&W music couple George Jones and Tammy Wynette“.
Actor Michael Shannon is set to play the role of George Jones as production kicks off on December 8th in North Carolina, America. And both Shannon and Chastain will do their own singing in the movie in order to really capture the vocals of Goerge and Tammy.
“George & Tammy” is based on a book written by their daughter
The series is based on the book, The Three of Us: Growing Up with Tammy and George, written by Georgette Jones.
The idea behind the limited series is to bring life to a “union between a true country music power couple“. George and Tammy had a daughter, Georgette, and it is said that she was treated as “C&W music royalty”.
However, it is also said that the marriage was broken. George drank and as a result, his and Tammy’s marriage only lasted six years. Georgette was only four when her parents split, and this took a great toll on the couple and herself.
