Vivienne Westwood first came to prominence in the 1970s for her well-known fashion style. The icon was named the dame for her service to fashion in 2006.
Designer Vivienne Westwood remembered
In a statement shared by her fashion house, it shared that Vivienne Westwood died “peacefully and surrounded by family”. The statement did not reveal if she died of natural causes.
Before rising to fame, Vivienne Westwood was a primary school teacher. In the 1970s, the former teacher would then make a career change by opening up a clothing store called Let It Rock. she opened up the store with her partner, Malcolm McLaren.
By 1981, Vivienne Westwood would have her first-ever fashion show. In these iconic fashion shows, the former teacher would always include matters which were close to her heart. One of these is climate change.

Becoming popular in her expertise, Vivienne Westwood would then go on to create designs for popular public figures in the industry such as Kim Catrall, and Princess Eugenie. The latter wore one of her designs to Princess Charles and Kate Middleton’s wedding.
As her designs became more popular, Westwoods designs also featured in the popular film, Sex, and The City. Till now, the designer is fondly remembered by Kim Catrall for designing three dresses on short notice to wear to the premiere of films.
Her decision to use Vivienne Westwood comes after several designs were not according to her taste. Which ultimately led the actress to have three dresses made by the fashion designer.
Vivienne is currently survived by her husband Andreas Kronthaler. He is infamously known to be 25 years younger than his late wife. Writing of her death, he shared that his late wife will forever carry on in his heart.
He shared, “I will continue with Vivienne in my heart. We have been working until the end and she has given me plenty of things to get on with.”
