Thabani Nyaose, the eThekwini Municipality speaker, told The Witness that he was still waiting for a report on the incident.

He police have been approached for a statement on the killing.

In a separate incident, over a month after two daughters from the Caluza family’s two daughters were shot in their home in during a robbery, the family is calling on the police to maximise its resources to ensure that the suspects are brought to book.

It is alleged that the family was preparing for bed on July 27 when they heard a loud noise coming from the dining room at 20:40.

The house robbery which resulted in the two girls aged five and 14 being shot in July, has forced the family to relocate to a new home.

The five-year-old was shot just above the ear and thankfully the bullet only damaged skin and there was not too much damage done. The 14-year-old girl had to undergo an operation to remove the bullet that was lodged in her stomach.

“Both children are recovering. The older one has returned to school and the younger one is still going for physiotherapy sessions,” said the father.

According to the father, his wife looked through the window and saw three men trying to open the door. He said they took their daughters to the bedroom and switched off the lights and locked themselves inside.

“Intruders then started banging on the bedroom door demanding to be let in. I called my brother and neighbour for help. Eventually gunshots were fired. The bullets went through the door and hit the children. We only noticed they were shot after the attackers left.”
