Anthony Johnson has lost his fight to an undisclosed illness. He was 38 years old.
This past Sunday, the news of his death was announced after the MMA fighter made his struggle very public with his fans. His cause of death is not known as his health condition was not disclosed to the public.
Anthony Johnson dies from an unknown illness
In November last year, Anthony Johnson had to put his career on the back burner. After he was diagnosed with a particular illness. The public figure previously shared that doctors removed an extensive amount of bacteria from his body and described it as the size of a football.
This past May, Anthony Johnson shared an image of himself looking physically different than he looked before. The public figure had notably lost a ton of body mass during the course of his illness.
Back in 2021, Anthony Johnson shared with his fans that he hopes to return sometime in 2022 and this seemed promising after the fighter expressed he will start training again.
At the time, the star shared that he will begin training soon and will come back fiercer than ever. He promised fans a more ‘dangerous version’ of himself than they had seen before.
Sadly, over the past few months, his illness had worsened with his manager sharing that the MMA fighter needs all the prayers he can get at the time.
In October, his manager Ali Abdelaziz shared that Anthony Johnson was extremely ill and that prays from everyone is vital at this crucial stage of his illness.
He said, “Very sad. I want everybody to pray for him. Pray for Anthony; he’s not doing well. He’s very strong, spiritually, but pray for him.”
Thus far, Anthony Johnson has received quite a number of tributes from his loved ones and his peers with some having had the honor to fight with him in the ring before his untimely passing.
UFC fighter Michael Chiesa said, “One of the most prolific KO artists our sport has ever seen. My prayers go out to his family and everyone affected by this tragedy.”
