Operation Dudula announced on Monday that it had released Nhlanhla Lux Dlamini from its organisation so he can focus on his activities with Soweto Parliament. Both organisations have resolved to tackle issues independently but will complement each other.
This decision was announced at a media briefing attended by Soweto Parliament president Nhlanhla Lux Mohlauli and Dan Radebe, Operation Dudula deputy chairperson, in Booysens south of Johannesburg.
Both Radebe and Mohlauli deny that there has been a fallout between the two organisations. This comes after Nhlanhla Lux was seen in a video referring to foreign nationals as “our bothers and sisters”.
Radebe says Mohlauli was misrepresented when he was shown in a video referring to foreign nationals as “our brothers and sisters”. Some Operation Dudula members had an issue with this and during a campaign in Brixton in Johannesburg over a week ago, they began singing songs accusing Mohlauli of being a sell-out.
Radebe said those members who called Mohlauli a sell-out have been reprimanded. Operation Dudula and Soweto Parliament held meetings to “iron out their differences”.
The main difference between the two groups is that Operation Dudula wants all foreign nationals to leave the country, whether they are here legally or not, while Soweto Parliament wants only those foreign nationals who are here illegally to leave the country.
The two groups said they will work together on some projects. “You can’t divorce the two from each other,” said Lux.
