The annual Rage festival held in Plettenberg Bay was ready and set to kick off today, 3 December. However, due to the increase in positive Covid-19 cases, the organisers made the “shattering” decision to cancel the event.

This news follows the cancellation of the Ballito Rage in Durban on Wednesday due to 36 staff members and guests that tested positive for the virus.

All schools to attend Plett Rage had positive cases

The Plett Rage organisers stated that they were “shaken to the core” when they saw the number of positive cases that came from their mandatory tests for the guests.

And according to the organisers, almost all the schools that were set to attend the event had positive Covid cases. And even though they implemented the most “stringent Covid-19 preventative measures”, there was still no way to prevent the spike in cases that would cause the devastating decision.

It’s still unclear whether there will be any refunds but organisers said that ticket holders would receive further information in the coming days via email.

Did the organisers make the right decision?

As seen in the video provided below, matric students who were set to attend the event said that now they are put in an even unsafer position.

According to the students, they would have been in a fairly safe environment surrounded by people who take mandatory Covid tests daily. Now they are going out to random parties with people from all over who have not been tested.

But either way, it’s clear that “the boys came to party”.
