State of Disaster declared in KZN
Following severe and devastating flooding and mudslides, a state of disaster has officially been declared in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN).
President Cyril Ramaphosa met with grieving and broken communities yesterday, however, many citizens still feel that the government has not done enough.
And if the state of disaster is set to assist the people of KZN, the state must then strengthen support in order to “implement contingency arrangements”.
Thus far, roughly 259 people have been declared dead while thousands are left homeless.
Bus strike paused for now ahead of Easter Weekend
Some good news for many South Africans – no travelling plans for Easter Weekend need to be changed or cancelled.
The South African Road Passenger Bargaining Council spoke with the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa and was successful in putting off the strike. For now, both parties seem to agree, however, the group still stressed that a possibility of a future strike remains probable.
Five crocodiles missing in flooded KZN
After this week’s heavy rain and flooding in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), 12 crocodiles escaped from Crocodile Creek Farm. And while seven have since been found and recaptured, five crocodiles are still on the loose near the Tugela River.
