Eskom stands in the way of independent power producers
Independent power producers in South Africa are currently dealing with their own set of challenges as Eskom stands in their way to moving forward.
Greenstone Energy, for example, has applied to energy regulator Nersa in order to distribute electricity to 18 properties near Sandton.
However, as part of the ongoing “turf war” against Eskom and municipalities, Eskom opposed this application from Greenstone.
And as reported by Moneyweb, the properties to which Greenstone wants to supply electricity are suffering additional blackouts – even more than the rest of the country.
South Africa’s cybercrime issue
As recorded by cybersecurity company Surfshark, South Africa comes in at number six when it comes to cybercrime globally. And the UK is number one on the chart for the second time.
According to recent findings, there are roughly 52 victims per one million internet users. And the most common cybercrime seems to be phishing scams – where fraudulent messages are sent to a person who is then tricked into revealing personal information.
