New Covid regulations criticised by many
The latest Covid-19 regulations have been raising many concerns since their implementation on Thursday 5 May.
Many lobby groups, the DA and the leisure industry have been criticising the latest regulations for being “unscientific and irrational”. These groups also believe that economic recovery is only being delayed further for sectors such as the tourism industry, which have suffered the worst thanks to the pandemic.

South Africa’s health minister, Joe Phaahla, has officially presented the newest Covid-19 regulations under the National Health Act. These regulations are set to replace the country’s transitional measures.

Cosatu’s 10% wage increase can cost up to R66 billion for the government
The Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) has revealed that according to their National Labour and Economic Development Council (Naledi), the 10% wage increase that is being demanded by public servants will cost the state up to R66.5 billion.
As reported by EWN, public sector unions have been negotiating with the government for weeks. And one of the main arguments is that the workers are in a “dire situation” as they cannot survive now that the cost of living has shot up.
