Eastern Cape weather will change dramatically during the course of the afternoon this Thursday.
The province will be set under a Yellow Level 1 warning. That is, for the possibility of thunderstorms in the region.
While the Eastern Cape is experiencing warm weather this week, perturbations over the coastal area in the region will result in showers and thunderstorms in the northern and eastern parts of the province.
Yellow Level 1 warning for the Eastern Cape
The South African Weather Service also wanted that these Thunderstorms may become severe during the course of the day, which means the Eastern Cape should be alert to potential dangers during this time. See the warning below.

Possible impacts on the Eastern Cape include:
- Danger to life (people and livestock)
- Flooding
- Interruptions of traffic
- Localized flooding
- Damage to infrastructure – buildings, bridges, low-lying properties
- Disruptions to the power supply
Now, since the region has been placed on Yellow Level 1, the impacts on the region should be minor. However, this can change and the region could be placed on a higher alert warning.
In addition, the possibility of thunderstorms in the region is considered to be very likely over the course of the day. Residents should be alert of potential dangers at this time as bridges and low-lying properties are at the most risk of being impacted.
So, the current weather warning comes just days after the Eastern Cape was placed on a Yellow Level 2 warning for thunderstorms and damaging winds this past weekend.
