[WEATHER WARNING]: Damaging Waves for the Northern and Western Cape

A level two warning has been released for 30th of March and the 31st of March. With approximate starting time to be midday on the 30th, and estimated end time to be midnight on the 31st. As a result, The South African Weather Service (SAWS) warns all vessels and any personal watercraft that navigation may prove difficult during those days. Adding that there is a good chance of damaging waves. Which may lead to vessels being at risk of taking on water and capsizing. Furthermore, they warn the public of the increased chances of being swept off coastal rocks due to random large waves.

SAWS states that small vessels should seek shelter from the potentially damaging waves in harbours, bays or inlets. Although, “Localised disruptions of small harbours or ports are possible for a short period”.
