According to the South African Weather Services a great portion of the Eastern Cape can expect severe thunderstorms today. With the worst starting from roughly two o’clock and lasting until around midnight tonight.

The level two storms will mean heavy downpours, strong damaging winds, excessive lightning and possibly hail. Additionally the excessive rain may cause localised flooding of susceptible roads, low-lying areas and bridges. As a result the department has warned the public to expect localised damage to infrastructure, property, vehicles, livelihood and livestock.

Furthermore, the public is instructed to stay indoors if possible while also avoiding coming into contact with metal items and staying away from open windows. As well as this, it warns against handling any items that are good conductors of electricity, such as fishing rods and golf clubs. The department especially warns members of the public to not seek shelter under trees or tall objects.

If anyone needs to travel in the Eastern Cape they should not cross any flooded areas during the thunderstorms. Whether walking or driving. Plus, any drivers should be extra cautious and vigilant as there is a good possibility of minor vehicle accidents.

I search for happiness and health in all aspects of my life and my inspiration is fueled by any adventures into nature, be it a journey through mountains or through a wholesome plate of food. I crave the outdoors, come rain or shine. But when I am forced to be inside you are most likely to find me with my nose in a book and one of my gorgeous dogs cuddling on either side of me.
