Millionaire showoff Hamilton Ndlovu will have to find a temporary shelter and accustom himself to less fancier modes of transportation.

Hamilton Ndlovu R42m assets seized

In a statement released on Thursday, it was confirmed that the Special Tribunal has approved an order for the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) and National Health Laboratory Services (NHLS) to “freeze R42 million worth of luxury properties and funds.”

“The funds and properties are linked to Jo’bourg businessman Hamilton Ndlovu. This follows upon a similar preservation order obtained by SARS seizing R60 million,” the SIU revealed.

The investigating unit, helped by the overarching powers of the tribunal, has determined that Ndlovu is one of the many opportunists who abused the emergency procurement procedures that were set in place in 2020, on the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“In terms of the order, Ndlovu and other respondents are prohibited from dealing in any manner with the funds and properties (including selling or transferring or mortgaging the properties) pending the final resolution of review proceedings to be brought by the SIU and the NHLS,” the SIU added.

Here’s what we know about Ndlovu

The 32-year-old landed on the radar of authorities in 2020 when the South African Revenue Services’ (SARS) Illicit Economy Unit picked up on a whopping R23.34 million tax bill Ndlovu had accumulated in 2020, at the height of South Africa’s first encounter with the pandemic.

Ndlovu, who’s said to have founded four companies that are currently under investigation for fraud, allegedly used unscrupulous means to milk R46.6 million from the NHLS.

In March, Judge Roland Sutherland of the Gauteng High Court granted SARS leeway to reclaim more than R36.8 million in unpaid taxes dating back to the 2017 financial year.

This is the viral video Ndlovu posted back in 2020 that got him in hot water with authorities. In the clip, the 32-year-old brags about how he purchased five luxury vehicles in one day.
