A Mpumalanga mother, her child and their nanny were abducted from their home by three armed suspects who robbed them of an undisclosed amount of money.

The two women and the 18-month-old baby were of their belongings by the suspects at Schoemansdal in Nkomazi, Mpumalanga.

The incident happened on Tuesday around 19:30. Three armed men wearing balaclavas and face masks stormed into a hose in Buffelspruit. The suspects held the victims at gunpoint and demanded cash, cellphones, car keys and bank cards, said Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, the police spokesperson.

“It is further indicated by the victims that they were forced into a gold Toyota Run-X, which belonged to the owner of the house (the woman). They were then driven away into the bush of Hectorspruit near Komatipoort,” Mohlala said.

Upon arrival, the woman was allegedly instructed by the suspects to log into her chellphone. The armed suspects forced her to make a transaction of an undisclosed amount of money. “One of the suspects is said to have then went to Malelane and cashed out the money whilst the three victims remained in the bush with the other two suspects.

“On the following day, around 3am, the victims were instructed by their assailants to walk away and never look back,” Mohlala said.

“The victims were given a lift by a good Samaritan and subsequently reached home. They then reported the incident to the police at Schoemansdal whereby a case of kidnapping with an additional charge of robbery was opened.”

The police said no arrests have been made and appealed to community members with information that could help lead to the arrest of the suspects to call their nearest police station or the crime stop number 08600 10111.
