Chery is expanding its corporate head office in Gauteng with the addition of a dedicated Fleet Sales Division.

The new division was created in response to a rapidly increasing demand for Chery SUVs from fleet, rental and public sector buyers. It will be headquartered in Johannesburg, with dedicated team members supporting customers in all provinces.

The new division is headed by industry veteran Lazola Qungwana, an automotive specialist with over 15 years’ experience in fleet sales and customer support.

Qungwana joins Chery from Stellantis, where he looked after regional sales for the company. He is also an alumnus of Jaguar Land Rover, Volkswagen and Audi.

“I’m excited to join such a fast-growing vehicle brand and assist corporate and fleet buyers with their purchases, financing and service requirements,” says Qungwana.

“Fleet purchases are a strong endorsement of any brand’s quality and service, as large fleet buyers have very strict requirements for durability, reliability and 24/7 customer service.”

Chery entered the South African market in 2022 as a fully owned subsidiary of the Chinese Chery Group. It has since grown to one of the ten most popular vehicle brands in South Africa, far outpacing the general market growth and that of its competitors.

“It is worth noting that Chery’s sales success to date is almost exclusively thanks to individual customers. Private customers actively sought out the brand, bought our Tiggo Pro range and shared their positive experiences with friends and family,” says Tony Liu, Executive Deputy General Manager of Chery South Africa.

Chery launched its first model, the Tiggo 8 Pro, with a 10 year and 1-million-kilometre mechanical warranty. It has since extended it to other models in the Chery range and expanded the service plan on models such as the Tiggo 8 Pro MAX to 7 years and 90 000 km.

Liu says that Chery’s success and its market leading mechanical warranty has drawn the attention of fleet customers, who have been in contact with Chery South Africa and its dealer network to buy vehicles in larger quantities.

“The Chery Fleet Sales Division has always been on our South African strategic plan, but we have decided to expedite its formation to meet this demand from fleet buyers,” says JayJay Botes, National Sales Manager at Chery South Africa.

The new Chery Fleet Sales Division can be contacted via a dedicated link on Chery.co.za or on 010 448 5388.
