Ingredients for Banana Chocolate Braai Pudding
  • Slit the bananas: keeping the peel on, cut a slit lengthwise along each banana with a sharp knife, almost through to the other side but not quite
  • Stuff generously: press chocolate and marshmallows into each slit, packing them intight, then close the banana back around the filling.
  • Wrap tightly: wrap each stuffed banana snugly in foil, sealing the ends so no melted chocolate escapes.
  • Braai the packets: place on the grid over the coals and cook for 10 minutes total, turning once at the halfway mark.
  • Rest briefly: pull off the grid and let sit for a minute — the filling stayslava-hot longer than the foil suggests.
  • Serve: open carefully (steam will billow) and serve straight from thefoil, topped with cream or ice cream and a splash of Van der Hum if you like.

Chef's tip: choose bananas that are ripe but still firm — overripe ones turn to mush in the foil. Best eaten immediately, straight off the coals.
