Mazda Southern Africa has added MEKOR Mazda Cape Town City to its dealer network, giving motorists in and around the Cape Town CBD closer access to Mazda sales, servicing, genuine Mazda parts and aftersales support.
The dealership is located at 14 Christiaan Barnard Street, Foreshore, Cape Town, and follows MEKOR Motors’ recent acquisition of the Mazda franchise in Cape Town City.
Three MEKOR Mazda dealerships in Cape Town
MEKOR Mazda Cape Town City joins Mazda Tygervalley and Mazda Claremont, bringing the number of MEKOR Mazda dealerships across the region to three. Mazda Southern Africa says the expansion is intended to make the full ownership experience more accessible, from buying a new vehicle to the service and support that follow.
Deolinda da Costa, Head of Marketing and Communications at Mazda Southern Africa, said the brand was excited to “bring the Mazda experience closer to even more customers in the Western Cape”.
MEKOR Group and its Mazda history
The new site builds on a relationship between MEKOR Group and Mazda spanning two decades. When Mazda established its independent South African operations in 2014, MEKOR opened Mazda dealerships in Tygervalley and Claremont. Cape Town City becomes the group’s third Mazda dealership in the Cape Peninsula.
Dawie Krynauw, Managing Director of MEKOR Group, said the people at Mazda had supported the group consistently and do what they say they will do, which gives it confidence to continue investing in the brand. He added that many customers keep their Mazdas in their families for years and return for annual servicing.
Outlook for Mazda in South Africa
Krynauw acknowledged the challenges facing South Africa’s automotive market and the broader economy. “The market is tough, but we believe every new Mazda model creates an opportunity for the brand to become even more competitive,” he said.
