The next seven days in the Northern Cape bring heat first, then storms, then a welcome cool-down. Kimberley reaches 35C under mostly clear skies today and climbs to 36C tomorrow with showers and thundershowers, which carry on through Sunday at 34C. Upington is the hot spot at 37C today, while De Aar reaches 34C tomorrow before showers and thundershowers arrive on Sunday.
Monday brings a sharp drop, with Kimberley cloudy and only 23C. Mornings dip to 11C on Tuesday and Wednesday, with afternoons warming to 29C under partly cloudy skies by Wednesday. Veld fire conditions are flagged around Pofadder, De Aar, Griquastad and Groblershoop, so please avoid open fires and dispose of cigarettes carefully.

SAWS outlook: Fine in the central parts, otherwise partly cloudy and hot to very hot, but cool to warm in places in the west. It will be windy in the east. The wind along the coast will be light southerly at first, becoming moderate south-westerly.
