Demi Lovato released her sixth studio album and fans are more than pleased with her new songs. In an interview with Vogue, the singer opened up about what the songs mean to her and a little bit about her growth as an artist.

So far, Demi Lovato has received an extremely positive review on her current music with fans praising her for her lyrics in most of her songs.
To date, the Camp Rock star revealed that she decided to go back to her roots and compile an album that is authentically her. Demi Lovato added that she is proud of her previous works but noted that there wasn’t much of her in the albums.
“I’m proud of that work, but it didn’t make me happy. There was always this kind of emptiness that I felt because I was trying to be someone that I wasn’t.”
Right now, Demi Lovato also references religion in her album. As is evident by the title of the album, the singer gives a few nodes to Christianity. While speaking to Vogue, the former child star revealed that one song is based on a bible verse.
Former child star gives a nod to religion
Since Demi Lovato has openly shared that she is non-binary, the star admitted that she had anger toward the church. As she always felt different or as society now openly calls it, queer.
“I grew up in the church as a Christian, and I had some anger towards it. Being queer, I definitely felt like I was misunderstood. There was also a kind of sexual oppression that I felt came from the church.”
Presently, her song Heavenly references a bible verse about masturbation. Demi Lovato expressed how religion oppressed her and felt conflicted with the way she felt while attending church.
“There’s a song called ‘Heaven’ that I wrote, and it’s actually based on a Bible verse about masturbation. It’s Matthew 5:30: ‘If your right-hand causes you to sin, cut it off—it’s better to lose one part of your body than your entire body to hell.’ I have my own sex toy, so it’s no secret that I am very sexually empowered.”
