GQEBERHA – The Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer, now in its 24th year, creates cancer awareness while raising funds for cancer related initiatives. Empathising with the cause, ISUZU has been a longstanding partner in this initiative. “Our health and wellness employee programmes include cancer awareness because this disease affects many of us in one way or another. Our vehicle support emphasises our commitment to cancer awareness and early detection,” said Mandlakazi Sigcawu, the Department Executive Corporate and Public Affairs Isuzu Motors South Africa.

She noted that the Big Walk for Cancer brings people from all walks of life together for a common cause. “As a local manufacturer and employer who cares about the wellbeing of its employees and the community in which we operate, we will walk to celebrate the survivors, demonstrate our support to cancer patients fighting the fight, and to remember those who succumbed to the illness,” Sigcawu added.

Algoa FM Managing Director, Alfie Jay, expressed his gratitude to Isuzu Motors South Africa for the company’s ongoing support towards the event. “The vehicles are used in our pre-event awareness campaigns which enable our presenters to visit communities in Gqeberha, East London and George. Considering this year’s expansion of the Walk to include all of the aforementioned cities, the vehicles will help to play a pivotal role in logistics, both prior to and on event day,” said Jay.

Stylishly wrapped in pink, the ISUZU D-MAX and mu-X which are known for their unwavering reliability are the perfect vehicles to drive the cancer awareness message across the province.

This year’s beneficiary of the event is CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa’s Gqeberha and East London branches. Proceeds from this charity event will be used to install solar energy panels at both houses to help mitigate the effects of unreliable power supply.
