After losing their second game in the DStv Premiership last weekend at the Lucas Moripe Stadium, Mamelodi Sundowns return to action on Wednesday evening hoping to regain the feelgood factor against Chippa United.
The defending Champions head to Port Elizabeth licking their wounds after seeing a two-goal lead in the first half take away their glory days after celebrating their MTN8 quarter finals victory at home to SuperSport United on the opening weekend as both teams head into the clash after losing points in their previous encounters.

“I think it’s going to be a very difficult one, I don’t think it’s going to be any easy. We never have games that are going to be easy, and considering that Chippa have a new and young Coach with maybe a bit of fresh new ideas, a lot of exciting new players and obviously most of those players are looking to cement their place in the team and the starting 11. They will obviously push themselves, they are already motivated and they don’t need motivation playing against Mamelodi Sundowns.”
“We also just came back from a defeat, we are obviously looking forward to winning the game. I know it’s not going to be an easy one but I believe in the team and that we will definitely come back with positive results.”
Masandawana’s record in their campaign has seen them win, lose, win, draw, win and lose since the start of their title defense, while the Chili boys lie at the bottom of the log with only one win, two draws and three games lost this season. This new season has not been glorious for The Brazilians in terms of their log positioning and points collected, they have a 50 percent win ratio from their six games this season, a foreign figure by the high standards that they have undoubtedly set, expressing his thoughts on this pattern, Maboe said”

“We need to believe in the process and we need to believe in what we are trying to work towards. It’s never going to be easy, there are going to be some challenges and hiccups here and there, we can take this period as a time where it’s probably the time where we need to face the hiccups. We are probably lucky because we are facing them at the beginning of the season and when we get that momentum going we know that from there onwards we are going to be winning more consistently and having more consistent performances.”
“We all need to pull in one direction and help one another. It’s not going to be easy, this season is going to be a very difficult season but we need one another and we need to keep on assisting and pushing one another in a positive way.”
Mamelodi Sundowns play against Chippa United in the DStv Premiership on Wednesday, 7 September at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. Kick off is at 19H30, live on SuperSport TV.
