The club announced on Sunday that a transfer had been agreed with Ajax for the 24-year-old Argentina defender and Ten hag has described the lad.
Martinez will be reunited with his former boss from the Eredivisie soon, with the move still being subject to a medical, player terms being finalised, and to UK visa requirements.
“He’s a warrior and I think the fans will admire him. He has an attitude, fighting spirit,” Ten Hag told Man United media.

Erik ten Hag is also delighted to be able to have Christian Eriksen at Manchester United, after the Dane completed his move on Friday.
The 30-year-old has signed a three-year-deal at Old Trafford and United will be his third Premier League club, after spells with Tottenham and Brentford.
Eriksen also won league titles at Ajax and Inter and the boss believes his experience will be vital – and that our forwards will be excited about working with him.
“He’s an experienced player. He plays in countries abroad, in Italy, in Holland, a long time in England, so he knows the Premier League,” Erik told Man United Media.
