The trailer in brief
Veteran’s two-decade friendship with a giant manta ray
Documentary follows Terry Kennedy, a Baja, Mexico legend
Now in his 80s, Terry seeks one final reunion
Global virtual cinema event and theatres from 10 November
Directed by Cody Sheehy, The Last Dive is an 88-minute documentary about Terry Kennedy, an American veteran who has spent decades living on and in the water off Baja, Mexico. Once burdened by a troubled past, he found his life changed by Willy, a 22-foot oceanic manta ray. Their bond lasted two decades and turned him into an unlikely conservationist.
In the trailer, Willy slaps his wings against the hull of Terry’s sailboat to signal a dive, and the pair explore the ocean together. Now in his 80s, the veteran sets out for a remote island hoping to find his old friend again, searching for peace, closure and a chance to say goodbye. It arrives in theatres and as a global virtual cinema event on 10 November.
