Clipping Point Publishing has announced plans to relaunch Cosmopolitan South Africa in collaboration with Hearst Magazines International, bringing the women’s media brand back to the local market.
The rollout will take place throughout February and March 2027, with the title appearing across digital platforms, social media and monthly print editions. Its content will cover fashion, beauty, lifestyle, wellness, careers and relationships.
Local and international Cosmopolitan content
The publication will combine original South African editorial content with selected stories drawn from the international Cosmopolitan network. Since 1965 the brand has focused on love and relationships, and it describes itself as the largest young women’s media brand in the world. Besides the US flagship, it publishes 21 editions globally.
Kim St. Clair Bodden, Senior Vice President/Editorial and Brand Director of Hearst Magazines International, said the brand is known for “building community with and inspiring Millennial and Gen Z women”.
Clipping Point Publishing growth plans
Established in 2014, Clipping Point already publishes TopGear South Africa, and the new title joins that magazine in its portfolio. Avon Middleton, Publisher at Clipping Point Publishing, described the move as a significant step in the company’s growth strategy and said this relaunch is “the first of several planned expansions over the next year”.
Middleton added that the business intends the growth to create new jobs and opportunities for South African creative and media talent, while lessons from TopGear will inform how the new magazine operates.
Hearst Magazines International partnership
Hearst Magazines International, a unit of Hearst Magazines, runs seven owned and operated businesses and five joint ventures, and has more than 45 licence partners across 49 countries, producing over 200 editions in total.
Cosmopolitan South Africa launch timing
Readers can expect the first editions across print and online during February and March 2027. Clipping Point Publishing says the magazine’s new editorial leadership will be announced in due course.
