A jury of 64 journalists from 25 countries has named the CUPRA Raval as one of seven finalists for the 2027 Car of the Year (COTY) award, chosen from a field of 38 vehicles. The electric urban car will now compete in the final round, with the winner to be announced at the Brussels Motor Show.

Raval production and sales in Martorell
Designed, developed and produced in Barcelona, the Raval is the first model launched within the Volkswagen Group’s Electric Urban Car Family. That family brings together four fully electric models, all made in Spain, after more than €3 billion was invested in the Martorell plant.
Sales have followed quickly. The hatchback has become the brand’s most successful launch to date, with more than 60 000 customer orders since its introduction in April and over 20 000 vehicles already delivered.
Design and chassis of the CUPRA Raval
Features developed exclusively for CUPRA include matt and paint finishes, Smart Light technology, flush, hidden and illuminated door handles, welcome projections and illuminated front and rear logos. Inside, CUP Bucket seats with 3D knitting and 3D-printed dashboard elements are available in the AHEAD pack.
Underneath, a sport chassis sits 15 mm lower than the platform, with specifically tuned suspension, a wider track, progressive steering and ESC Sport as standard. The VZ version adds DCC Sport, an electronic slip differential, ESC Off, sporty steering knuckles and 19-inch wheels with 235 mm performance tyres.
CUPRA history with Car of the Year
This is not the brand’s first appearance in the final. The Formentor reached it in 2021, the Born followed in 2022 and the Terramar was a finalist for the 2025 edition. CUPRA, launched in 2018, has yet to win the award.
Raval powertrains, trims and price
Four power outputs of 85 kW, 99 kW, 155 kW and 166 kW will be offered, paired with 37 kWh and 52 kWh battery options. Buyers can choose from four trim levels, namely Raval, Raval Plus, Endurance and VZ, with prices starting at €26 000. The Car of the Year 2027 winner will be revealed at the official ceremony during the Brussels Motor Show.
