Brent Lindeque, founder of the Good Things Guy platform, has taken delivery of a Ford Ranger XLT Double Cab 4×4 that will provide mobility support to 24 selected non-profit organisations and community initiatives across South Africa. Dubbed “The Good Things Ranger”, the bakkie is the centre of an exclusive partnership between Ford and Good Things Guy running under the banner “Ranger People Do Good Things”.
Lindeque collected the bespoke vehicle directly from the production line at Ford’s Silverton Assembly Plant in Pretoria, where it was built. “We are taking a vehicle made in South Africa and using it to do good things for South Africa,” said Neale Hill, of Ford Motor Company’s Africa Operations.

What the Good Things Ranger will do
The double cab will transport people, equipment and supplies, help organisations reach communities and support events and projects. Over recent months, Good Things Guy and Ford selected the partner NPOs that can best benefit from direct access to mobility.
A bespoke livery makes the vehicle recognisable on the road. According to Lindeque, good intentions do not always come with resources, and sometimes what is needed is simply a way to get there, move something or reach someone who needs help.
Ranger production at Silverton
Ford has been part of the South African motor industry since 1923. The Silverton plant is a global manufacturing hub for the Ranger and the exclusive production hub of the Ranger PHEV for export, with installed capacity for up to 200 000 vehicles a year, or as many as 720 a day.
A Ranger leaves the line roughly every two minutes, and units built in Pretoria are exported to more than 100 markets. The plant was recently recognised as the best-quality Ranger facility in Ford’s global manufacturing system. Locally, about one in every four bakkies sold is a Ranger, which held between roughly 27% and 36% of its segment month by month during 2025.
Good Things Guy and the year ahead
For more than a decade, Lindeque’s platform has shared stories of ordinary South Africans doing extraordinary things, earning him recognition as a Lead SA Hero and a Mail & Guardian Top 200 Young South African. “This campaign gives us the opportunity to go one step further and actually help them do it,” he said.
Each collaboration will be documented throughout the year and gathered in a special Good Things Guy book. The stories will be published on both Ford From the Road and Good Things Guy.
