Top honours at the 2026 Southern African Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (SAVRALA) Manufacturer of the Year (MOTY) Awards have gone to Hyundai Automotive South Africa, which was crowned the overall Manufacturer of the Year.
The result is the company’s first Overall Gold Award since 2009. It achieved the highest combined rental and leasing score among this year’s competitors, and the win follows two consecutive years of Silver recognition.

Hyundai awards and SAVRALA rankings
Besides the overall title, the brand took Gold as Leasing Manufacturer of the Year 2026 and received the Leasing Value Award for the first time. Isuzu claimed second place overall, with Toyota in third.
Sandile Ntseoane, General Manager at SAVRALA, said the Overall Gold Award reflects “the confidence and recognition Hyundai has earned from the vehicle rental and leasing industries.” He added that the Leasing performance and the first Leasing Value Award point to its commitment to customer service, competitive value and industry partnerships.
Hyundai CEO on the move to Gold
Stanley Anderson, CEO of Hyundai Automotive South Africa, credited the company’s employees and dealer network. “Moving from two consecutive years of Silver recognition to Overall Gold is a tremendous achievement for Hyundai Automotive South Africa,” he said.

Why aftersales matters to fleet operators
For fleet operators, dealing with a manufacturer goes beyond buying a vehicle. Reliable parts supply, responsive technical assistance and quality aftersales service can affect operating costs, productivity and customer satisfaction.
Anderson said the firm remains focused on strengthening the support, service and value behind long-term customer confidence, throughout ownership rather than only at the point of sale.
The 2026 results strengthen the brand’s standing in the rental and leasing sector of a South African market where 67 brands compete for buyers’ attention.
