Isuzu D-Max test drives in Maputo
Guests drove the 1.9 LS, the 3.0 X-Rider, the Arctic and the MU-X MY26 across a 4×4 track and a raceway. According to Isuzu, the drives were supported by the Drag Reduction System (DRS), which enabled mechanical safety and maximum performance gains. The 1.9 LS showcased the updated 1.9-litre DDi engine, while the 3.0 X-Rider let drivers explore the larger engine’s performance and handling on the circuit.
“It gave customers the chance to see and feel the updates for themselves,” said Romeu Rodrigues, Managing Director at Isuzu Mozambique.
What changes on the MY26 D-Max
The seventh-generation bakkie was developed with Southern African conditions in mind. It gains revised exterior styling and a reworked cabin with physical rotary dials for the infotainment system. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) feature on applicable models as part of wider technology and safety updates.
Before release, the vehicle completed an 88 000 km testing programme covering extreme heat, dust and corrugated gravel roads. Mava Landu, Department Executive: Revenue Generation in Rest of Africa Markets at Isuzu Motors South Africa, attended the event and said the new model introduces “updates that respond to the way vehicles are used in our markets.”
D-Max warranty and local assembly
Among the key changes is an improved 5-year/120 000 km warranty, which adds coverage for long-term ownership under the brand’s “With You for the Long Run” banner.
Every MY26 D-Max is assembled at the IMSAf plant in Gqeberha, South Africa. In Mozambique, the range is sold through Entreposto, where interested fleet and private buyers can arrange to see and drive it.
