- Lifecycle carbon report verified by DEKRA.
- Whole-life footprint of 120.40 g CO₂e/km.
- New R&D centre at UTAC Millbrook.
- Barcelona project expected to create 1,000-plus jobs.
- Chery targets net zero by 2037.
OMODA&JAECOO used its International User Summit in Wuhu, China, which closed last week, to set out environmental, social and governance (ESG) progress across both of its brands. Held under the theme ‘Drive to the Next Vibe’, the event brought together customers, partners and media from around the world.

JAECOO 7 SHS-P lifecycle carbon report
The main development is the first vehicle lifecycle carbon report released under the new Sino-European Automotive Carbon Footprint Mutual Recognition Framework. Independently verified by DEKRA, the assessment puts the JAECOO 7 SHS-P at 120.40 g CO₂e/km across its entire life, from raw materials and manufacturing through driving to end-of-life recycling. Its calculations use methodologies recognised in both China and Europe, and a new lifecycle carbon management service for OMODA and JAECOO customers was introduced alongside it.
Victor Zhang, Managing Director of OMODA&JAECOO UK, said publishing verified lifecycle carbon data “is an important step in being open about that impact”, adding that the work at Millbrook and in Barcelona “shows a commitment to Europe that goes well beyond selling cars.”
Electrification and recycling across Europe
Electrification sits at the centre of the environmental work, with the latest proprietary Super Hybrid System (SHS) developments shown in Wuhu. Battery-electric and SHS models accounted for 76% of OMODA&JAECOO registrations in the UK in September, according to SMMT data, and 92.7% in Spain between January and September. In Italy, the end-of-life recycling network covered 71 centres across 19 regions as of March 2026.
Chery investment in the UK and Spain
A new European R&D Centre of Excellence at UTAC Millbrook in Bedfordshire will draw on UK engineering expertise to develop vehicles for British roads. In Barcelona, the EBRO project run by parent company Chery Automobile Co. Ltd. with EV MOTORS is expected to create more than 1,000 local jobs. Pilot-production JAECOO 5 vehicles are due by the end of December 2026, ahead of the start of production in the first quarter of 2027.

Chery Auto sustainability report and targets
Published at this month’s Paris Motor Show, Chery Auto’s first EU Sustainability Report is a voluntary disclosure prepared with reference to the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive and European Sustainability Reporting Standards. Key environmental and social indicators have undergone limited assurance by TÜV NORD, and the document sets out a responsible supply-chain mechanism and work towards closed-loop battery recycling. The group targets net zero in its own operations by 2037 and across its value chain by 2047.
