Fleet operators and independent contractors have a new working bakkie to consider, with JMC South Africa launching the all-new Vigus Single Cab. The company is backed by the Salvador Caetano Group.
Offered in a single 4×2 derivative with a manual gearbox, the Vigus Single Cab is aimed at commercial users who also want a degree of everyday driving comfort.

Vigus Single Cab engine and gearbox
Power comes from a 2.5-litre turbo-diesel engine producing 123 kW at 3 400 rpm. Peak torque of 410 Nm is available from 1 400 rpm through to 2 400 rpm, which suits pulling away with a loaded bed or driving on unpaved surfaces.
A six-speed manual transmission is fitted, and the bakkie carries a 73-litre fuel tank for longer stretches between fill-ups on cross-provincial deliveries.
Load bed, payload and towing
The cargo bed measures 2 310 mm in length and 1 595 mm in width, and it is finished with a factory spray-in bedliner. Payload is rated at 1 000 kg.
For heavier jobs, the Vigus can tow 2 000 kg braked and 750 kg unbraked, enough for equipment trailers or extra supplies.
Suspension, cabin and safety equipment
Up front, the suspension uses double wishbones with coil springs, while a leaf spring setup handles the rear. Ground clearance is 210 mm, with a 27-degree approach angle and a 22-degree departure angle for uneven work sites.
Inside, the cab has air conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity and two USB power ports. Standard safety kit includes ABS, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, dual front airbags and rear parking sensors to help in tight loading bays.
Warranty and availability in South Africa
According to the JMC South Africa team, the model reflects a commitment to “providing the local market with vehicles that are as hardworking as the people driving them”.
Covered by a five-year or 100 000 km warranty, the Vigus Single Cab is now available at dealerships across South Africa. Pricing was not included in the announcement.
