- Google Gemini rolls out to all-new CX-5.
- Replaces Google Assistant once user opts in.
- Delivered via over-the-air update.
- Supports 12 European language variants.
- Three years of free data services.
Google’s Gemini AI assistant is now available in the all-new Mazda CX-5 for vehicles equipped with Google built-in, across supported European markets and languages. It brings more natural conversation and a broader range of hands-free functions covering navigation, communication and selected vehicle functions.
Once enabled by the user, Gemini succeeds Google Assistant as the active voice assistant. It understands natural language, context and follow-up questions, so drivers can say what they need conversationally instead of remembering specific commands.

Gemini navigation and music in the CX-5
Destinations can be searched by preference, mood or purpose rather than a specific place. A driver might, for example, ask for a highly rated café with outdoor seating along the route and then refine the request with follow-up questions.
Entertainment works the same way. Music can be requested to suit a particular mood, or a song found using contextual information. Supported services include Spotify, YouTube Music and Amazon Music, while Apple Music remains available through Apple CarPlay.
Hands-free messages with Google built-in
Incoming messages can be summarised and read aloud, which helps drivers understand the context before they respond. Replies can be drafted, refined or translated without touching the phone. WhatsApp and Messenger can also be used hands-free through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
Mazda E/E Architecture+ and over-the-air updates
The system is enabled by Mazda E/E Architecture+. According to Mazda, the update delivers on a promise made at the launch of the all-new CX-5: a digital cockpit designed not only for the day the vehicle reaches its owner, but to keep evolving throughout ownership. The company links the technology to its people-centred approach, intended to help drivers stay focused on the road.

How to activate Gemini and data costs
Gemini arrives through an over-the-air update and supports 12 language variants at launch: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Dutch, Danish, Norwegian, Slovenian, Swedish and Turkish. To use it in place of Google Assistant, owners must be signed into their Google Account and opt in. Full functionality needs a data connection, although selected capabilities also work offline.
Data services for Gemini or Google Assistant, Google Maps and Google Play are free for three years from the date of first registration of the new vehicle, subject to enrolment in Mazda Connected Services through the MyMazda app. After that, the services can be used by connecting a compatible smartphone with a data package, and additional costs may apply.
