October registrations rose by 3,604 vehicles, or 85.1%, compared with the same month in 2025. That gave the company a 5.13% share of a UK new-car market that grew 5.4% to 152,730 registrations.

Previous full-year record passed early
MG overtook its previous full-year total of 85,155 vehicles on 29 October. By the end of the month, year-to-date sales stood at 86,767, an increase of 17,140 vehicles, or 24.6%, on the same period last year.
Its year-to-date UK market share is now 4.59%, ranking it sixth overall against 12th a year earlier. The total UK new-car market reached 1,892,000 registrations in the year to date, up 9.8%.
Retail and fleet growth for MG
Private buyers drove much of the gain. Retail registrations climbed 57.3% in October, while the wider UK retail market grew 4.1%. The carmaker links the result to buyers’ focus on value, citing a recent Auto Trader feature on the subject, and to the savings offered by electrified vehicles.
Fleet sales rose 138.8%, a jump MG attributes to its Hybrid+, Plug-in Hybrid and electric line-up. David Allison, Director of Product and Planning at MG Motor UK, said strong growth in both channels “demonstrates the appeal of our vehicles to a very broad range of customers, who, more than ever, are voting for value.”
