Speakers at the Qashqai anniversary event
Pierre Loing led product strategy and planning for Europe during the development and launch of the original Qashqai. Today he is Senior Director at Nissan Motor Corporation and a Board Member of Renault Group, and he will reflect on the model’s origins and the decisions that helped create the crossover segment.
Joining him is David Moss, Senior Vice President, Research & Development, Nissan AMIEO. He has been involved in all three generations of the car and previously served as Chief Vehicle Engineer for the third-generation model.
The third speaker, Matthew Weaver, is Corporate Executive, Global Design, Nissan Motor Co. His design leadership has helped shape several of the brand’s European vehicles, and he played a key role in the evolution of the model’s design identity.
Qashqai sales and UK production
Since its launch, the Qashqai has sold more than four million units across Europe. It was conceived, designed and engineered in the UK, and has been built in Sunderland since production began in 2006.
Widely recognised as the model that created the crossover segment, it remains one of the best-selling models in the UK.
