Two of the French brand’s B-segment models have taken top honours at the Auto Express Used Car Awards 2026. Renault’s Clio was named Best Used Small Car, while the Captur took the title of Best Used Small SUV.
Judges praised both cars for their refined driving, interior quality and practicality. Each is available with the full hybrid E-Tech powertrain, which does not need external charging.
Renault Clio adds to its awards
The latest result joins a run of wins for the fifth-generation supermini, which claimed the Auto Express Supermini of the Year title for three consecutive years between 2020 and 2022.
Richard Ingram, Deputy Editor of Auto Express, described the hatchback as “one of the most accomplished small cars on sale”, adding that it “combines dinky dimensions with big-car tech.” Its hybrid system is designed to cut fuel consumption without plugging in.
Captur praised for its flexible cabin
Auto Express highlighted the compact SUV’s refined driving experience, spacious cabin and sliding rear bench, which lets owners prioritise passenger room or luggage capacity. Ingram noted that the model is “little more than a lifted Clio”, and that it was also crowned the magazine’s Small SUV of the Year in 2020 and 2021.
More recently, the Captur has gained Renault’s latest 160 hp full hybrid E-Tech powertrain, which brings improved performance and fuel efficiency.
Renault hybrid and electric small cars
In the B-segment, the company offers buyers a choice of full hybrid and fully electric vehicles. Alongside the two award winners sit the all-electric Renault 5 E-Tech electric and Renault 4 E-Tech electric.
