Renault record in Car of the Year finals
This marks the sixth consecutive year that the French brand has had a model in the final round. The Megane E-Tech electric made the list in 2022, the Austral full hybrid E-Tech in 2023 and the Renault 4 E-Tech electric in 2026. Two of those years ended in victory, with the Scenic E-Tech electric winning in 2024 and the Renault 5 E-Tech electric taking the 2025 title jointly with the Alpine A290.
Fabrice Cambolive, CEO of the Renault brand, said: “With Twingo, we rose to a challenge that many considered impossible: to develop an attractive, technologically advanced, affordable European electric car for under £20 000.”
Twingo sales, cabin and technology
Nearly 26 000 units have been sold since launch, and the model reached the top spot in the European sales rankings for the A-segment in the third quarter, with a market share of about 25%.
At just 3.79 metres long, the five-door city car has two independent rear seats that slide over 17 cm and a folding front passenger seat. Boot capacity totals up to 360 litres, with a load length of up to 2 metres. Every version has a twin-screen display and connected multimedia system, while the Techno trim adds OpenR Link with Google built-in, an EV route planner and Gemini, Google’s AI-powered conversational assistant. Up to 24 driving aids are offered, along with a One Pedal function and Twingobay, a panoramic glass roof with an area of 0.7 m².
Twingo battery, charging and UK price
Power comes from a 60 kW (82 hp) motor and an LFP battery with 27.5 kWh of usable capacity, giving a range of up to 263 km on the WLTP cycle. A 6.6 kW charger is standard, and an Advanced Charge Pack adds 11 kW AC charging, 50 kW DC fast charging and bidirectional V2L and V2G functions. The car is assembled at the Novo Mesto plant in Slovenia.
In the United Kingdom, prices for the Twingo E-Tech electric start at under £20 000.
