The working week in the Northern Cape opens on the cool and wet side, with Kimberley sitting at 15 to 22 degrees under moderate rain on Monday. Things settle and warm through the middle of the week as partly cloudy skies on Tuesday give way to mostly clear conditions by Wednesday, when Kimberley climbs to 24 degrees. By Thursday and Friday the heat holds around 25 degrees, but showers and thundershowers return to close out the week.
Out west, Springbok starts with rain showers around 14 degrees before easing off, while Upington warms nicely towards 25 degrees midweek. De Aar shifts from moderate rain to clearer, warmer days. Keep a raincoat handy early on, and note the SAWS weather advisories for Garies, Pofadder and Springbok.
Warnings and Advisories for Northern Cape
Conditions are such that the FDI index is above 75. Under these conditions fires may develop and spread rapidly resulting in damage to property and possible loss of human and/or animal life.
What to do: All personnel and equipment should be removed from the field. Fire teams, labour and equipment are to be placed on full stand-by. At first sign of smoke, every possible measure should be taken in order to bring the fire under control in the shortest possible time. All available aircraft are to be called for without delay.
