Today’s Weather [WATCH]: Foggy and cloudy across many provinces – 9 September
Fog blankets Gauteng, Western Cape and North West this morning, with drizzle in Mpumalanga and clearer skies elsewhere across temperatures ranging from 7 to 31 degrees. SAWS warns of veld fire conditions.
South Africa wakes up to a mixed bag this Wednesday, with fog blanketing several regions including Johannesburg, Cape Town, Mahikeng and parts of the North West, so motorists in those areas should take extra care on the roads this morning. Coastal Durban stays mostly clear and pleasant at 16 to 25 degrees, while Gqeberha climbs to a warm 31, and Mbombela can expect some drizzle to dampen the day. Do keep in mind that an Extreme Veld Fire Conditions warning is in place, so exercise caution with any open flames and stay alert to fire risks where you are.

Veld Fire Conditions (Warning Level 10), valid until 20:59 on 9 September. Areas: Laingsburg.
Conditions are such that the FDI index is above 75. Under these conditions fires may develop and spread rapidly resulting in damage to property and possible loss of human and/or animal life.
All personnel and equipment should be removed from the field. Fire teams, labour and equipment are to be placed on full stand-by. At first sign of smoke, every possible measure should be taken in order to bring the fire under control in the shortest possible time. All available aircraft are to be called for without delay.
