The video in brief
- Basson Laubscher performs his rock song Swamp Thing
- Swamp Thing comes from his debut EP Shakedown
- A phone-shot jam recorded during South Africa’s lockdown
- First instalment of his Lockdown Jams series
Recorded as South Africa went into lockdown, this jam finds Basson Laubscher revisiting Swamp Thing, a rock track from his debut EP, Shakedown. The session opens his Lockdown Jams series, a run of short performances he started to keep his sanity while staying at home.
Everything was captured on a phone with no audio interface, so the sound is simply the room: guitars and amplifiers picked up as they are. For this one, the musician plays a recently acquired Ibanez double neck SG, running it through his old 1970s Marshall.
