Oscar winner Ron Howard directs In the Heart of the Sea, an action adventure based on Nathaniel Philbrick’s best-selling book about the New England whaling ship Essex. In the winter of 1820, a whale of mammoth size and almost human vengeance assaulted the vessel, a disaster that would inspire Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick. Chris Hemsworth plays veteran first mate Owen Chase, with Benjamin Walker as inexperienced Captain George Pollard.
This final trailer from Warner Bros. Pictures turns to the attack’s aftermath, as surviving crew members brave storms, starvation, panic and despair, forced to do the unthinkable to stay alive. Cillian Murphy appears as second mate Matthew Joy, while Ben Whishaw plays Melville, whose inquiries 30 years later brought the story to light. Tom Holland and Brendan Gleeson share the role of seaman Tom Nickerson at different ages.
