- A mother and grandfather confront grief after loss
- Belén Cuesta and Karra Elejalde lead the drama
- Mariano Barroso adapts Fernando Aramburu’s novel
- Streaming on Netflix from 27 November
Grief, memory and absence sit at the heart of The Child, a Netflix drama based on the Fernando Aramburu novel of the same name. Writer-director Mariano Barroso tells the story of Mariaje and Nicasio, a mother and a grandfather whose lives were forever marked by loss. Goya Award winners Belén Cuesta and Karra Elejalde take on the two roles.
Each character searches, in their own way, for a means of living with the memory and the pain, and the trailer frames the film as a journey of searching and resilience. Viewers in South Africa can stream it from 27 November, exclusively on Netflix.
