The Last First: Winter K2 is a documentary from director Amir Bar-Lev about a 2021 bid to become the first to summit K2 in winter. It follows Icelander John Snorri Sigurjónsson and the Pakistani father-son team of Ali and Sajid Sadpara, who share the ascent with influencer climbers, commercial clients and a Nepalese team chasing its own glory. Nirmal Purja and Colin O’Brady also appear.
The trailer shows the icy heights and unpredictable weather of K2, setting up a story of extreme ambition and devastating consequence. The film looks at the industry of extreme mountain climbing, touching on strategy, class, caste, money and power under life-and-death circumstances. The 98-minute documentary, rated 16, streams on Apple TV from 2 October.
