British performance car manufacturer Ariel has appointed Forman Motorworks of Scottsdale, Arizona, as its exclusive distributor in the United States. For the first time, buyers there can order the full range of models and options, with every US-bound rolling chassis built at the factory in England.
The arrangement replaces the previous licensed US manufacturing programme. Forman Motorworks will act as the single customer contact and will also oversee parts, servicing and maintenance through select support sites in strategic US locations.
Ariel Atom and Nomad models for the US
The US line-up comprises the Atom 4, the Atom 4R, the Atom 4RR and the off-road focused Nomad 2, all supplied in UK specification. The Atom 4 produces up to 350 bhp from turbocharged Honda power and weighs under 600 kg, while the track-focused Atom 4R has 400 bhp, revised aerodynamics and a weight of under 700 kg.
At the top sits the Atom 4RR, with a bespoke hand-built 525 bhp engine, a sequential gearbox and race-grade components. The Nomad 2 is a rear-wheel drive all-terrain sports car with up to 305 bhp, a weight of under 750 kg, long-travel suspension and high ground clearance for gravel, mud and desert.
Forman Motorworks and its Ariel history
Founder Franz Forman became the first US Ariel dealer in January 2009, and the Scottsdale business has since sold more than 200 new and pre-owned Ariel vehicles. It otherwise specialises in pre-owned performance, exotic and collectible cars from marques such as Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini and McLaren.
Simon Saunders, founder of Ariel Motor Company, said supplying directly from the factory means American buyers can choose from the full model range “while also enjoying the same total specification flexibility as UK customers.” Each Ariel is hand built to order by a single technician.
Deliveries and orders in the United States
