The contribution that charities, community partners and volunteers make to their communities, in Crewe and across the UK, took centre stage when they gathered at an occasion hosted by Bentley Motors. Now in its second year, the annual Charity Thank You event ended with three awards for individual volunteers and teams.
Sixty local charities that have received direct support from the carmaker’s community investment programmes were invited, alongside members of the Bentley Board and Bentley Charities Committee. Guests used the event to build connections and share best practice.

Bentley shifts focus to volunteers
The first event, introduced in 2025, recognised community partners. This year’s edition centred on volunteers, with awards presented to those described as ‘Relentlessly Extraordinary’ for demonstrating the company’s values of People, Innovation and Collaboration.
Sally Hepton, Director of Government Relations and Sustainable Luxury at Bentley Motors, said it was “an important opportunity for Bentley to say thank you” to the volunteers, charities and partners “whose dedication improves the lives of so many in our local community.”
People and innovation award winners
Richard Street, a volunteer with Pure Insight, received the People in the Community Award for his support of care-experienced young people. He has helped young people facing homelessness, isolation and trauma, from providing transport to training, work and volunteering opportunities to building their confidence, everyday skills and independence.
Gill Thompson took the Innovation in the Community Award. She has been pivotal to running the YMCA’s Sherborne Hub in Crewe for seven years, set up a direct relationship with Morrisons for a regular supply of donated food and essential goods, and secures £500 annually through Lloyds Bank for community activities.
MyCWA team wins collaboration award
The Collaboration in the Community Award went to MyCWA’s ‘Team Narnia’, named for the large storage space behind one door at the charity’s Crewe base. The volunteers manage donations, maintain food and toiletry banks, prepare clothing and essentials, and coordinate large volumes of donations over Christmas for survivors of domestic abuse and their families.
Carole Warburton, a member of the team, said: “We never dreamed of receiving an award like this.”

Community investment in Crewe
Through strategic partnerships, community investment programmes and colleague-led activities, the Crewe-based company says it continues to support organisations meeting immediate needs while helping individuals and communities build long-term resilience.
