Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, the ATTO 8 is the new flagship SUV from BYD. The seven-seater is also the brand’s first vehicle in Europe with FLASH Charging, which refills its battery from 10 to 97% in nine minutes.
It sits above the ATTO 2, ATTO 3, SEALION 5 and SEAL U in the range. At 5040mm long, 1996mm wide and 1760mm tall, the SUV falls into the full-sized class.

ATTO 8 motors, range and performance
Two all-electric versions are offered. The Design RWD has a single rear motor producing 462PS (340kW) and 365Nm, good for 0-62mph in eight seconds, and its 115kWh battery gives a WLTP Combined range of 405 miles.
Adding a front motor, the Excellence AWD raises output to 775PS (570kW) and 775Nm. This version reaches 62mph in 4.6 seconds and, with the same battery capacity, still covers 374 miles.
FLASH Charging and the Blade Battery
A 2nd Generation Blade Battery makes the faster charging possible. FLASH Charging takes the pack from 10 to 70% in five minutes, and in temperatures as low as -30°C a 20 to 97% refill needs 12 minutes. BYD plans 3000 FLASH Charging stations across Europe by the end of 2027.
Executive Vice President Stella Li said FLASH Charging means “recharging as fast as refuelling, removing range anxiety.”
ATTO 8 cabin and practicality
Inside there is a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel, a 26-inch head-up display and a 15.6-inch touchscreen with Google Built-in. The front seats and the outer middle-row seats are heated, ventilated and offer massage, all seats are trimmed in genuine leather, and tri-zone climate control is standard. Further equipment includes a front refrigerator and dual 50W wireless charging.
Luggage space measures 270 litres with all three rows in use, rising to 1960 litres with the middle and rear rows folded. A 136-litre front trunk adds more room.

SHARK DMO pickup and European timing
Also on the stand was the SHARK DMO double-cab pickup. Its Super Hybrid system combines two electric motors and a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine for 436PS, 650Nm, 0-62mph in 5.7 seconds and up to 56 miles on electric power, with sales across Europe due in the next six months.
Dealers across European markets will start selling the ATTO 8 in the first quarter of 2027.
